Group Leader
Limyi Heng
Limyi Heng is currently pursuing a graduate degree at San José State University School of Social Work. He is a first generation Khmer-American whose parents are survivors of the Khmer Rouge. His interest includes human rights, the pursuit of social justice in the neocolonialism era, and post-conflict stability operations. He is a veteran of the armed forces and plans to continue serving the country in international social work. Limyi will be working at Cambodian Centre for Human Rights.

Gabriela Castillo
Originally from Southern California, Gaby is in her last year at University of California at Berkeley majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies Field with a concentration on sustainable development for women in rural Latin America and a minor in Portuguese. Gaby is a member of on- and off-campus organizations that promote social justice in her community and in the Americas, as well as a current intern at ACCESS-Women’s Health Rights Coalition. Gaby will be working with Tiny Toones.

Kalisi Kupu
Kalisi Kupu is a first generation college student that is currently completing her undergraduate studies at Mills College. Her dedication towards creating social change stems from her cultural background. The marginalities experienced within her personal history and Tongan culture have been the basis of her strength for fighting against injustice. She is committed to help create social changes that will benefit those who are often excluded in society by pursuing her long term goals of becoming a civil rights attorney. It is this commitment to social justice that helps her passion become more tangible and ultimately possible. Kalisi will be working with Centre on Housing Rights and Evictions (COHRE).

Boravy Nhim
Boravy was born and raised in Oakland, California to Cambodian Refugees. She attended the University of California, Davis where she became a Ronald E. McNair Scholar and continued on to the University of California, San Diego’s Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies seeking a degree in International Development & Non-Profit Management and Environmental Policy. She is exited to jump into the realm of global health working with Cambodia Reproductive and Child Health Resource Center (RACHA) during One World Cambodia. Boravy is a GHFP scholarship recipient and will be working at Cambodia Reproductive and Child Health Resource Center (RACHA).
Navita Sahai
Navita Sahai graduated from Northwestern University in 2008 with a degree in Economics and a minor in Global Health, and since then, has been an Analyst with The Lewin Group - a public health consulting firm based outside of Washington D.C. She has spent time as an intern for Mexico’s Ministry of Health, and as a volunteer at a shelter for battered women and their children in the Chicago suburbs. Navita’s interests include community development, art, international travel, and volunteerism, and she is very excited about serving as a Young Leader on the One World trip to Cambodia. Navita is a GHFP scholarship recipient and will be working at Cambodia Reproductive and Child Health Resource Center (RACHA).

Lucy Sung
Lucy Sung is a rising senior at Bryn Mawr College. She is involved with the Office of Intercultural Affairs creating programs devoted to issues around diversity and providing support for students of color. Born in NYC but raised in Los Angeles, Lucy is interested in social justice and community empowerment. Lucy is proud as a student at a women’s college to be working at Cambodian Women’s Crisis Center. Lucy will be working at Cambodian Women’s Crisis Center.

Abraham Velazquez
Abe Velazquez is a South Bronx native who has a passion for using poetry as a form of healing. His poems have been featured alongside members of Lyrical Circle, Nikki Giovanni, and Sekou Sundiata. His life and work are dedicated to establishing a more just and compassionate society through healing, art and spirituality. Abe is a GHFP scholarship recipient and will be working at Tiny Toones.
